callsign from Nauru (OC-031) between 3 and 12 September. He will

E6 - Lance, W7GJ (E6M) will conduct a 6m EME DXpedition to Niue on 7-21

5Z4/SM1TDE from Mombasa, Kenya on 5-22 November. He will operate

from Senegal from 25 September to 3 October, including an entry in

8Q - Juergen, OE4JHW will be active holiday style as 8Q7OE from the
Maldives (AS-013) on 3-14 September. He will operate mainly SSB

HS - Tana, E27EK will participate in the All Asian DX SSB Contest (1-2
September) as E27EK/p from Si Chang Island (AS-107). QSL via home

IS0 - Riccardo, IZ5JMX will be active as IM0/IZ5JMX from San Pietro
Island (EU-165) on 2-14 September. He will operate holiday style
on 40-10 metres SSB. QSL via home call, direct or bureau.
KH8S - Two NH8S team members (W8GEX and DL3DXX) expected to arrive on
American Samoa on 30 August to coordinate last minute details. The
remainder of the team will arrive in Pago Pago on 3 September in
the late evening. They anticipate leaving on Tuesday morning (4
September) for the 24 hour boat trip to Swains, where they will
remain until the 19th. The equipment is already on the island, and
they "should be able to get right to work on erecting the antennas
and setting up stations. We are anxious to get on the air and will
be QRV as soon as possible". Announced frequencies are:

Frequencies for activity on 60m are 5405 (CW) and 5403.5 (SSB).
Plans are to upload logs daily by satellite phone from the island
to Club Log. An Online QSL Request System (OQRS) will be activated
on Club Log after the DXpedition ends (around 22 September). You
will be able to request your QSLs one of four ways: OQRS Direct,
OQRS Bureau, direct mail (Swains Island DXpedition, P.O. Box 5005,
Lake Wylie SC 29710, USA), via bureau to AA4NN. Logs will be
uploaded to LoTW six months after the conclusion of the DXpedition.

OZ - PA0ABM, PA1SVM, PD2DX and PD2R are active as OV2T (QSL via PA0ABM)
from Vendsyssel-Thy/Nordjylland (EU-171) until 4 September. During
the weekend they will join the OZ5GX group for the IARU Region 1
Field Day as OZ5GX/p.
PA - Promoting the World Statues Festival that will take place in
Arnhem at the end of the month, Fred PA0FAW will be active as
PC12WSF on 3-30 September. QSL via home call, direct or bureau.
SM - Look for Fred, SM7DAY/p to be active from Senoren Island (EU-138)
on 8-14 September. He will operate CW and SSB on the HF bands. QSL

SV - Dirk, ON5CT will be active as SV8/ON5CT/p from Corfu Island
(EU-052) on 4-18 September. He will operate SSB and RTTY on 20,

SV9 - Look for Silvia, SV9/EA1AP and Alberto, SV9/EA1SA to be active
from Crete (EU-015) on 9-15 September. They will operate SSB, CW

W - Special memorial station N3U will be active on 8-13 September in
remembrance of United Flight 93 and the tragic events that
occurred on 11 September 2001. QSL via W3PN, direct or bureau.
YB - Joppy, YB8XM and another operator have plans to operate from Babar
Island (OC-271, new one for IOTA) on 1-6 November. [TNX JN6RZM]
ZD9 - Martin, G3ZAY and Robert, M0VFC have secured places on the "Baltic
Trader" travelling to Tristan da Cunha (AF-029) on 20 September
from Cape Town. They expect to have about 7 days on the island
from the 27th, though this could be curtailed by bad weather. They
do not expect to have time to cover all bands and probably will
not be able to operate on 160 or 6 metres. The callsign will be
ZD9UW to be used by both operators. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW
and ClubLog shortly after the operation (or during if an Internet
connection is available) and cards will be handled by OQRS on
Clublog, or direct to M0VFC, or via email bureau requests. Please
try to avoid sending inbound cards via the bureau.
Martin and Rob would like to try to raise some extra funds for the
Tristan da Cunha Educational Trust Fund. They plan to take some
QSL cards to the island and anyone willing to donate $25 (up to a
max of 100 donors) will receive a direct card mailed from
Tristan Da Cunha for their first two QSOs (the rest to be mailed
at no extra cost to the recipient on return to the UK). More

PACIFIC TRIP ---> John, N7CQQ and Ron, N6XT will be "in the Samoa area" for
thirty days starting on 30 August. They will be active from Samoa (5W) and
hopefully will get permission to visit Tokelau (ZK3) for a couple of weeks.
They also might operate from American Samoa (KH8) in late September while

DXCC NEWS ---> After reviewing new information and documentation, the ARRL
DXCC Desk has concluded that the 1998 XU1A DXpedition to Cambodia will be
valid for DXCC credit. If you have had QSLs rejected for this operation,
please send a request via e-mail (bmoore[@]arrl.org) to be placed on the
list for update. If you remember the submission in which you included the
QSL, please note this in your e-mail, as it will expedite the search for
the rejected QSO.

+ SILENT KEYS + Fr. Lars Rooth, SJ (SM1BOE) became a Silent Key on 21 July,
at 90 years of age. During his long eventful life he was, among many other
things, in charge of the Scandinavian section of Vatican Radio, and an
operator at HV3SJ.
Cris Henderson (GM4FAM) passed away on 23 August. He was only 57 years old,
and one of the top CW DXers in the United Kingdom.
